Our fantastic Therapeutic Practitioner Donna never stops helping children – even in her spare time!
For the 2nd year running Donna has been part of Hosanna House and Children’s Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT) pilgrimage to Lourdes in France. Donna formed part of the team enabling 22 children and young adults with physical, mental, social, educational and developmental needs from Service families to enjoy an all-expenses paid pilgrimage holiday and simultaneously provided respite care for the families at home.
Donna helped raise funds for this holiday as well as funding her own travel and accommodation expenses.
The pilgrimage involves long, intensive days providing care and assistance; team working with other helpers to respond to each beneficiaries’ needs; assisting with logistics and administrative support; preparing and leading activity periods; overnight monitoring; and travel. These make for a challenging period that requires a collaborative approach, flexibility, innovative thinking and generous participation from all involved.
As the Rt Rev Paul Mason, Bishop of the Armed Forces, explained “The selfless commitment and hard work of our helpers at Lourdes is a great advert for the ethos of our Armed Services. Getting stuck in, putting the children first in everything and doing it all with such great spirit helps make the HCPT annual pilgrimage the success that it is. I am proud to be associated with such generous individuals.”
In a thank you letter received by the Fostering Foundation from The Chair of HCPT, Captain Derek Swannick Royal Navy commented that he witnessed at first hand the remarkable contribution made by Mrs C this year. She is a strong and reliable member of the group’s leadership, working very effectively alongside other key personnel. She provided support, advice and guidance to helpers, Leaders and myself and worked tirelessly to ensure that the standards and care quality were maintained. Her contribution is greatly appreciated.

Well done Donna, we couldn’t be prouder of you.
