Each child in foster care should be valued as an individual

Continuing our series of National Minimum Standards for Foster Care the Fostering Services department of the Government has produced.

This time we have “Each child should be valued as an individual and given personalised support in line with their individual needs and background in order to develop their identity, self confidence and self-worth.

It is vitally important that every child is accorded the unique support and treatment which works for them, whether they are in foster care or not.

Sometimes children in foster care need extra support because of some of their previous life experiences but we think it is important  that they are also not negatively treated because they are in foster care.
