This course is designed to help foster carers understand more about how they can support traumatised children who are going through changes in their lives. It will look at planned, unplanned transitions and endings and how these can impact on the child, the carer and the network of people around them. It is essential to manage transition well to prevent them from turning into destructive endings for the child and carer. For this to happen, carers need to understand the effects of transition and endings, which will give them insight into why these times may be difficult for the child and themselves. It can help the carers manage their own feelings of loss and grief; it also means they can help the child successfully come through the change that is facing them.
