Working With Children Who Have Been Raised by Drug/Alcohol Abusing Parents
There are increasing numbers of children growing up in families affected by substance
misuse. Alcohol misuse continues to have high prevalence and drug misuse continues to rise, to the extent that services are now sometimes dealing with three affected generations. This one day course is for foster carers and support staff who are working with children who come from substance misusing families.
- Explore and gain a greater understanding of the safeguarding aspects of parental substance use
- Explore and gain a greater awareness of how parental substance misuse can affect the child’s attachments and development (during pregnancy and after birth)
- Explore and learn how to identify the ways substance use impacts negatively on consistent and stable parenting
